This portrait features a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Sebastian, and a Welsh Corgi/Golden Retriever mix, Belle. The harnesses were deleted in the portrait, and Sebastian's head was tilted, at the request of the commissioner. Inspired by the colors of the harnesses, I elected to use a pale purple batik as the background and a dark purple and green batik print for the stopper border, with a dark green batik border. The fabric used for the stopper border was also used for the binding. The finished quilt is about 2' x 2.5'. The pattern for Sebastian is modified from a pattern by Sharon Malec, and the pattern for Belle is an original by Maria Risener.

"Maria, I opened the box as soon as I returned home from vacation.  Wow was my comment!  The quilt exceeded my hopes, it is more than beautiful.  Your work on the two puppies was "dead on".  You captured their personalities singularly and as a couple.  You are a professional and an artist and you have a tremendous gift from God.  Thank you for creating a work of art that will be a blessing to my son and
daughter-in-law for many years to come, it's perfect."

"My name is Adriana and I'm the owner of Belle and Sebastian. I received, as a Christmas gift, your beautiful representation of my furry children. I was brought to tears to see how thoughtful and genuine your quilt is. It is one of the most amazing gifts I have ever been given. Thank you for your hard work. Thank you again for the wonderful portrait quilt."
